Hi everyone. I’d like to share some songs with you. These are songs which we sing almost daily at MA and the children will know them well.
MA. Betle’m’s playlist: https://spoti.fi/3cuRDWT
During our morning circle before lunch and often during the afternoons outside we’ll sing songs and incorporate actions which is great for understanding the words in the song better, and giving the children some time dedicated to physical expression. It will also facilitate in releasing some energy during these times where we are stuck inside our homes.
Here’s a video to show you as parents the actions to the song “wind the bobbin up” this gives you the opportunity to dance with your children as well as helping them to remember the actions.
And here I am with my nephews to show you the actions for “12345 once I caught a fish alive”
Another song which will be easy to explain and is on the playlist is “sleeping bunnies” in this song you simply pretend to go to sleep and then when the song says “wake up soon” you wake up and start jumping with “hop little bunnies hop hop hop” they love this one as it builds anticipation.
“Walking in the jungle” is simply walking, stomping, jumping, skipping or running according to what they say throughout the song and then listening to the animals and guessing what they could be.
And then you have “the wheels on the bus” where you can listen to the song and make up an action fro each thing on the bus and head shoulders knees and toes where you simply point to those body parts as they are sung in the song.
Let’s see if your children remember some of these actions and can show you!
I hope this creates a joyful moment between you and your children.
“There should be music in the child’s environment, just as there does exist in the child’s environment spoken speech. In the social environment the child should be considered and music should be provided”
